Get-to-Know Helios Info Night is a required step for completing an application to Helios School. This live Zoom Q&A offers parents/guardians the opportunity to understand our unique mission and program. You can sign up for this event via Ravenna. Please note that in order to register your application status must be set to 'started'.

Register on Ravenna

Families are invited to attend a short campus visit. The visit includes a campus tour and a question-and-answer session. Thursday tours will take place between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Saturday tours will take place between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm.

The objective of the visit is to give you a sense of the school and an understanding of how students experience Helios. You are welcome to bring your children with you.

Dates for the 2025 - 2026 school year will be announced September 1, 2025. Please note that in order to register your application status must be set to 'started' in Ravenna.

We require the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children:

• WISC-V (for ages 6 and up) 
• WPPSI-IV (below age 6)

We kindly ask that the following subtests be included in the IQ report: 

• WISC-V: Verbal Comprehension Index, Visual Spatial Index, Fluid Reasoning Index, Working Memory Index, Processing Speed Index, Full Scale IQ, and General Ability Index
• WPPSI-IV: All the same subtests as the WISC-V as available according to the applicant's age

You are welcome to use any licensed provider with experience in administering the Wechsler Intelligence Scale to children. Testing providers can be found here. Please ensure that your testing provider includes the subtest results as a part of the report. 

Please schedule the IQ assessment as soon as possible to ensure completion before the February 2, 2026 deadline. IQ assessment reports can be uploaded to Ravenna or be sent directly to admissions@heliosschool.org. Please make sure that IQ test results are in PDF form without password protection.

In order to get to know your student better, teacher recommendations are required. Please delegate the recommendation form to the applicant's teachers as soon as possible.

In addition, we ask for an applicant's transcripts. Please print the transcript request form from Ravenna and bring it to your student's school.

For applicants to kindergarten:

• 1 teacher recommendation
• 1 preschool progress report, if available

For applicants to 1st grade:

• 1 teacher recommendation
• 1 preschool progress report, if available
• 1 kindergarten first semester Fall transcript

For all other applicants:

• 2 teacher recommendations
• 2 transcripts including the 2024-2025 school year, plus first semester of the 2025-2026 school year, as available

Please note that all report cards and transcripts must be received by February 2, 2026 in order to consider the application complete.

Applications are due January 8, 2026 12 pm noon, but we encourage you to submit an application as early as possible.

A completed application is required to sign up for a student workshop and a parent interview.

If the $100 application fee presents a hardship for your family, please contact admissions@heliosschool.org and we will be happy to work with you.

After you submit your application in Ravenna, please sign up for a workshop and parent/guardian interview.

Workshop

We're excited to get to know your student!

Attending a workshop is a required step in the application process. It helps the applicant to get a feel for our school and for us to see them in a peer group setting.

During the workshop, the applicant will spend time engaging in various activities with our current teachers and staff. Parents will meet with the Head of School for the parent component.

parent/guardian interview

The goal of the interview is for the admissions team and applicant parent(s)/guardians to get to know each other better. It is an informal conversation with an opportunity to share more about your student as well as to ask questions. This is a parents/guardian meeting and is a required step to complete the application. Please allow 30 minutes for this meeting. Note that some interview slots are for a Zoom meeting and some are offered in person at Helios School. 

If two parents share guardianship of the child, both are required to attend the interview.
